What is in a written quote.

Painting quotes are famous for being one line and one number. Ours is six sections, and you get it on paper before anything is booked.

    Every surface, listed by name

    Walls, ceilings, closets, trim, doors, both sides of each door. If it is not on the list, it is not in the price, and you will know before you sign.

  2. 02

    The prep steps, one by one

    Wash, scrape, fill, sand, caulk, spot prime, full prime. You can see exactly how much of the job is preparation, because that is where the money goes.

  3. 03

    Coats and sheen per room

    Two coats is the default. Where a color change needs three, we say so up front instead of finding out on paint day.

  4. 04

    Who moves what

    What we move and cover, and the few things we would rather you took down yourself, like curtains and anything breakable.

  5. 05

    Start date and working days

    The day we start, roughly how many days we are in the house, and the hours we work.

  6. 06

    A flat price, not a range

    One number for the scope described. It only changes if you add work or we find rot or water damage, and then we stop and show you first.

Do we have to leave the house while you paint?
No. We work one room at a time and use low odor products indoors, so most families stay put. Cabinet doors go to our shop, so the spraying happens away from you.
How long does a typical interior job take?
Three to five working days for the main floor of an average home, longer if there is a lot of trim or wallpaper to deal with. Your estimate gives you the number of days before we start.
When is it too cold to paint outside?
In Vermont we usually run exteriors from late April into October, and we watch the overnight lows more than the daytime highs. If conditions will not let the coating cure, we reschedule rather than push it.
Do you supply the paint?
Yes, and it is in the price. You pick the color and the sheen, we handle the ordering, the tinting and the leftovers, which we label and leave with you for touch ups.
